Here's what's happening at the Five Fabulous Openings on September 14 at Second Saturday Art and Wine.

1.The Carriage House Gallery of Artists will be one of the official venues for Fotoseptiembre USA The exhibit, “Journeys,” features the work of Carriage House Gallery artist/partner, Angie Carney, and invited artists, Jay Kazen and E. CastleFotoseptiembre USA is an international photography festival held September 1 - 30 in San Antonio and the Texas Hill Country.

2. As part of Fotoseptiembre USA’s 2013 region wide exhibit, COSAS is excited to feature work by Geoff Winningham, professor of photography at Rice University.  Geoff Winningham began photographing the popular fiestas of Mexico in 1984. Returning to the same Mexican villages several times a year, he formed personal relationships with families who permitted him to photograph them in the intimacy of their homes, and local officials who gave him special access to all phases of the celebrations. This is a don’t miss exhibit. Learn more at fotoseptiembreusa.com

3. Picture this...unique gallery, just off the beaten path, that features dedicated artists whose oil paintings vary from western and wildlife to landscapes and contemporary! That's Highland House Gallery with bronze sculpture, pottery and handcrafted jewelry compliment the walls, as well.  Visit with the artists during this evening event, share refreshments, and enjoy the newest creations by some of the most accomplished artists in the area. Find them in the River South Art District in the HeART of Boerne.

4.Join J. R. Mooney Galleries of Fine Art as they open “Petal to Stem”, an exhibit of  work by emerging, national, and international artists. Decorative, functional, and medicinal, flowers have played many vital roles.  Floral still-lifes and landscapes can be relaxing, calm and meditative as well as jubilant and energetic “Petal to Stem” showcases these emotions as well as many more, granting individual observation and reception as key to this seemingly aromatic art appreciation. Engage your senses in flowers at J.R. Mooney Galleries through the end of the month.

5.Texas Treasures Fine Art is honored to feature the string quartet from the Symphony of the Hills from Kerville, Texas. This classical chamber ensemble will provide a sublime ambiance for which to enjoy the master works of the 50 national artists represented by Texas Treasures Fine Art. This will be an evening not to miss. The string quartet will play from 5:00 - 7:00. Come and immerse your senses in THE ARTS!
