Hill Country Blues by Margie Barker

Artist, Margie Barker, continues her love of the Texas Hill Country in her most recent painting entitled “Hill Country Blues”.  She reminds the viewer of the many vistas encountered in Texas; offering vast panoramic scenes with contours that are inviting, valleys that are fertile with the much beloved bluebonnets and trees that benefit from density.

“Hill Country Blues” has a composition that is central and recedes toward gentle hills on both sides of the painting, easing into the horizon and beyond.  The colors are gentle, cool, and refreshing with signature variations in depth that are often appreciated by many viewers .The drifts of color are purposefully applied to reinforce the shady areas and the contours of the slopes.

The view beyond is of the hillside, contrasted by the rugged terrain and elevation with some rocky barrenness and haze that is another artistic detail of the painting.  Margie Barker offers a painting of remarkable clarity and color that is closely associated with the light of the season.
